This is our story...

Being both motorcycle riders with a love for travelling, we talked about touring the world on bikes about two years ago.

After looking into logistics/constraints and places we wanted to explore, we decided to tour the Americas from Alaska, USA to Ushuaia, Argentina.

We also wanted to have the same motorcycle to simplify maintenance, and find something we would both feel comfortable riding. We ended up chosing the Suzuki V-Strom 650, a 07' grey one for Chad and a 05' red one for Caroline.

We left for our journey on 6/14/09 from Washington, DC and arrived in Ushuaia, Argentina on 4/19/10. Click here and read below to see what it took us to make it to Ushuaia.

On 6/9/10, we flew back to the United States almost exactly a year after we had left for this journey.

Seven days and counting

The departure date has been set: Sunday, June 14th. Hopefully it will be a nice sunny afternoon, not too warm or humid.

We have made a lot of progress over the last month: our house is rented, all the furniture is gone, Caroline's car has been sold, the motorcycles upgrades are almost completed and we have planned the first 3 weeks of the trip.

  2. I'm praying for your safe travel and for delightful experiences - meeting new people, beautiful scenery, new foods, new cultures, etc. I would never have the gumption to do this; but want to "live" it through your blog entries! I love you, Aunt Saundra

  3. Wow, happy trails! Guess you'll be hitting Yellowstone a bit before us next month...
By the way, what are you going to do with your bikes at the end?
You know I'll be glued to this blog, you'd better keep it updated as much as possible!
